MAJOR APPAREL AND TOY COMPANIES JUMP ON BOARD POCKET.WATCH MEDIA BRAND
Pocket.watch Delivers on Promise of Extending Creator Partner Brands into Franchises With Announcement of New pocket.watch Branded Apparel and Toy Lines Featuring Ryan ToysReview, EvanTubeHD, HobbyKidsTV, and More
LOS ANGELES, Calif., February 13, 2018 – Pocket.watch, a media brand that creates, acquires, distributes and curates content for kids age 2-11 across a variety of platforms, today announced two significant licensing partnerships that will help build its creator partner YouTube brands including Ryan ToysReview, EvanTubeHD, JillianTubeHD, HobbyKidsTV, and Captain Sparklez into franchises that extend into the real world. Under the company’s respective pocket.watch Apparel and pocket.watch Toys banners, they have entered into a master apparel agreement with The Bentex Group (affiliates of H.I.S. International, Dreamwave, LLC, LLC and Extreme Concepts, LLC) and a robust toy licensing agreement with Bonkers Toys. The deals will lead to the creation of a dedicated line of apparel, toys, and collectibles featuring the likenesses of pocket.watch’s popular creator partners and original characters for fans to enjoy while introducing a lifestyle aspect to each collection tied to each creator’s favorite things.
This announcement comes on the heels of pocket.watch’s agreement to create a pocket.watch book imprint with Simon Spotlight, a division of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, where creator partners Ryan ToysReview, Captain Sparklez, EvanTubeHD, HobbyKidsTV and original pocket.watch characters will appear in books. With the launch now of not only pocket.watch Books but of pocket.watch Toys and pocket.watch Apparel this further illustrates the company’s commitment to building franchise brands and delivering them to everywhere kids are today including digital content platforms and traditional channels like retail.
“Pocket.watch is quickly becoming a powerhouse in the kid’s entertainment industry,” said Stone Newman, Chief Revenue Officer, pocket.watch. “Over the past year, we’ve formed long term partnerships with the biggest kids and family creators on YouTube, developed a slate of amazing premium series and now we’re extending our brand to toys and apparel with great partners like Bonkers Toys and The Bentex Group. This is only the beginning – we are in major talks with a variety of licensees and are confident that there is no category that won’t be successful with these powerhouse digital franchises.”
As part of the master apparel agreement with pocket.watch Apparel, The Bentex Group will be charged with developing an extensive clothing line featuring pocket.watch’s creator partners and original characters. The branded apparel will be promoted by pocket.watch creators within their videos and through their social media pages. The apparel line, which will be introduced to market in time for Holiday 2018, will be featured by The Bentex Group in a flexible pocket.watch branded showroom at 34 West 33rd Street in N.Y.
“From the moment we met with pocket.watch, we knew we needed to get involved,” says Morris Dweck, CEO of Bentex Group, Inc. “Pocket.watch’s vision of launching these already huge YouTube brands into the real world is a testament to adapting to an ever-changing market, which is a critical to component in any retail strategy. We are excited to be working together to bring this next wave of kids apparel to the massive audiences that are already hungry for them.”
Under the pocket.watch Toys umbrella, Bonkers Toys will be responsible for developing the first toy line for Ryan ToysReview. The line, which will debut during Toy Fair 2018, will include blind bag collectibles and other packaged formats including figures, vehicles, plush, compounds (slime) and other novelty collectibles.
“Bonkers Toys is in tune with today’s generation of kids and how they are consuming media. We are beyond thrilled to be partnering with the most popular YouTuber in the world, Ryan ToysReview, and the team at pocket.watch to launch Ryan’s first toy line,” said Brian Bonnett, Founder and CEO of Bonkers Toys. “We look forward to a continued partnership with pocket.watch and expansion into additional brands like EvanTubeHD and HobbyKidsTV.”
In addition to developing a toy line for Ryan ToysReview, Bonkers Toys will also begin developing lines for other pocket.watch creators including EvanTubeHD and HobbyKidsTV.
